Elisabeth Iszauk

Elisabeth Iszauk is an investor at Montauk Capital, where she focuses on what the firm calls the electron economy. Rather than framing its work only as climate tech, Montauk Capital invests around the systems that generate, move, store, and use electricity, opening the door to companies across power generation, grid infrastructure, industrial energy, and related hardware.

On The Grove, Iszauk explained how that thesis shapes Montauk Capital’s investment work and why the language matters. She described the electron economy as a way to look beyond a narrow climate category and identify technologies tied to the growing role of electrification across the economy. She also discussed Montauk Capital’s research led approach to geothermal, including how the firm mapped white space in the sector, identified an opportunity, assembled a founding team, provided initial capital, and helped launch a new geothermal company.

Iszauk began her career in energy strategy consulting at Accenture in New York, working with utilities and energy retailers on grid decarbonization. She later moved to Berlin to join Expansia Capital, investing in climate companies, with a focus on deep tech hardware at the seed and Series A stages. Her technical background includes studies in biology and biomedical engineering, along with academic and industry lab experience, before a college lecture on climate change helped redirect her career toward energy and decarbonization.
