Professor at Cambridge & Católica Porto

Wayne Visser is a professor, author, and advisor focused on sustainable transformation, regeneration, and the future of business. He teaches at the University of Cambridge and Católica Porto Business School, and works with growth companies and established organizations on strategy, innovation, and impact. Through Kaleidoscope Futures, his advisory and education platform, he helps leaders understand long term social and environmental change, design regenerative business models, and move from risk reduction toward creating measurable value for people and nature.

On The Grove episode “From Sustainability to Regeneration,” Visser brought an academic and strategic lens to climate tech and clean tech. He discussed why the word “sustainability” has become diluted through overuse and inconsistent meaning, and argued that companies should aim beyond sustaining the status quo. Instead, he framed the goal as thriving: building businesses, technologies, and systems that restore ecological health, strengthen communities, and support durable economic growth. The conversation also examined how founders and investors can think more clearly about purpose, scale, and impact in a market often crowded with vague claims.
